The Women’s Equity Council (WEC) was established in the early 1980s in San Diego with a mission to advance and empower women and girls. The formation of the committee was in direct response to the pressing need to provide education and advocacy for women’s rights. As an organization with consultative status to the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council, the WEC is an active committee providing both educational and awareness programs throughout the San Diego community for the betterment of the lives of women.
