The Millennium Project was commissioned by the United Nations Secretary-General in 2002 to develop a concrete action plan for the world to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and to reverse the grinding poverty, hunger and disease affecting billions of people.
Combining the art of design with an aspiration for social change, the United Nations Association San Diego has taken a creative step towards helping accomplish the UN Millennium Project. Graphic designer and UNASD Media and Public Relations Chair, Jeff Silva, photography instructor, Claire Schneider and students at the Art Institute of California, San Diego worked together to design this unique and innovative series of eight images, each representing one of the Millennium Development Goals. Each of these stunning images is framed by a clean design and a single word which encompasses that goal. When all eight images are displayed in order, the first letters of each word spell out an eight-letter word- possible.
At a global level, progress has been made but the gains are uneven. The Millennium Development Project strives to bring people from all walks of life together and unite them to a cause that ultimately makes our world a more peaceful place to live. This purchase will help fund UNASD’s varied education programs that aim to raise awareness of the humanitarian efforts of the United Nations.
