Overview

The United Nations Association, San Diego Chapter offers internships year round for undergraduates and graduate students in San Diego County. Students will participate in a project-based learning program allowing them to learn about the United Nations, event planning, and management skills through their projects. Interns may create their own projects or participate in the planning and implementation of an existing project.

Internships Opportunities (Interns are not limited to only one focus; they may be involved in various categories)

Communications Intern

  • Print and Electronic Newsletter
  • Email Listserv
  • Press Releases and News Updates
  • Community Mapping (Collaborating with other San Diego organizations)
  • Editing Publications and Copy

Technology Intern

  • Photography/Filming of Events
  • Updating Website
  • Event Presentations

Project Intern

  • Includes planning for events such as UN Day, UN Charter Day, UNASD International Career Day, UNA Film Festivals, Water for Life (March 22), Cultural and Regional Symposiums.

Education Intern

  • MUN Programs
  • Lesson Plans & Curriculum
  • Teaching in Global Classroom
  • Support Education Committee

Membership Intern

  • Manage Membership Database
  • Renewal Letters
  • Expanding Membership/Membership Programs

Advocacy Intern

  • UNA USA Advocacy Agenda
  • Promote UN Millennium Development Goals
  • Policy Analysis
  • E-Action Items
  • Contact your Representive Letters

Art Miles Mural Project Intern

YPIC Intern

Interns may also be responsible for managing our flag collection and are required to attend atleast two events during their internship.

Internship Dates

Note for UCSD students: Although it is possible to intern with us for one quarter, we prefer a 2 quarter commitment.

September – December
January – March
April – June
June – August

Eligibility Criteria

University: Intern applicants should be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship and should have a strong interest in the United Nations and international relations.

High School: Must be a junior or senior in high school.

Academic Credit

It is not a requirement, but students may receive academic credit for their internship.
