It is an interactive site that serves as a forum for discussion about world events and personal experiences, as well as art, music, and literature. UNESCO launched the site during the International Year for the Culture of Peace in 2000, and it is recognized by the UN General Assembly as a contribution to the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence UNASD supports the mission of the Culture of Peace News Network, and has created a training program to build a local network of writers to contribute to CPNN. Becoming certified as a reporter or moderator for CPNN is a great way for individuals and organizations to spread the word about local events. CPNN also connects people to a thriving international community that is working to provide an alternative media source that is easily accessible, democratically operated, and open to the public. CPNN Workshops Training sessions are held monthly at the UNASD building. Participants will learn the guidelines of the CPNN network, the rights and responsibilities for reporters and moderators, as well as the eight “Peace Keys” which provide reporters with ways to promote a culture of peace in their writing.
